The space idea is unifying
In 2021, the CSIE (Center for Scientific Innovation and Education) was established. CSIE aims to establish an Automation Center of Excellence in Armenia, as well as, using the international network of scientists, to build a World Center for Armenian Robotics. The foundation has now set itself the task of teaching scientists and students how to formulate advanced research problems and have a competitive mindset. During 2021, CSIE and "Bazoomq" had discussions and came to the idea that they should jointly undertake the mission of creating a satellite in Armenia with their own forces. This is how the story of Hayasat-1, the first satellite created in Armenia, began.
Before creating any satellite, one must first prepare a test sample, perform all the experiments and calculations on it, and then project all that on the real satellite. The first is the ground sample, the second is the flight sample. "Programs and systems are developed on the ground sample, all of them are tested, integrated and jointly checked. Then, once we've gone through those phases, we determine what the final working things are, we determine that the system is working correctly, and then we open the actual flight sample, unbox it, start downloading those programs into it, and give the necessary connections. And that's it, it becomes a ready working system. “We are trying not to do too many experiments on the flight module," one of the founders of Bazoomq, Vachik Khachatryan says. A team of more than 10 people from Bazoomq and CSIE worked on the ground sample for a year at the Bazoomq laboratory in Zovuni, and then began work on the flight sample. Since everything was tested and calculated, the assembly of the flight sample took about a month. Special conditions are required for work with a flight sample. the satellite must be assembled in a clean room. A clean room is a special laboratory where the concentration of dust is controllable, and the degree of controllability depends on the class of clean room. For example, when they say a class 1000 clean room, it means that the number of dust particles larger than 0.5 micrometers in every 1 cubic foot of that room should not exceed 1000. That is why the team carried out the flight sample collection in the clean room of the National Scientific Laboratory named after Alikhanyan.
The individual components of Hayasat-1 - the radio communication and power supply systems, the internal computer, the solar panels - were purchased ready-made. Here in Armenia, the integration of all these systems was carried out. This is a detailed and complex work. calculations, analysis, programming must be carried out, and all this must be so precise that all systems work together seamlessly.
