Seminar on Development of an Op-Amp-Based PID Control Circuit (DC Motor)
On March 23, at 5:00 PM, the 6th seminar of the CSIE Seminar Series took place, dedicated to the development of an analog PID control circuit built from operational amplifiers for DC motor speed control.
The seminar was led by CSIE research intern Mher Zeynalyan, under the supervision of Haykanush Darbinyan. The presentation covered the full path from control theory to physical implementation — introducing PID controller fundamentals, passive and active RC circuit configurations for realizing proportional, integral and derivative actions, and op-amp-based circuit design. The complete system was simulated in LTspice and then assembled on a breadboard, integrating an Arduino UNO, a DC motor, and a rotary encoder for speed feedback. The session concluded with a live demonstration of the working device, showing the controller's response on an oscilloscope.
