Seminar on Simulating a Fixed-Wing Plane UAV with Gazebo
On June 26 at 4:30 PM, the 12th seminar of the CSIE Seminar Series was held, focusing on the simulation of fixed-wing UAVs using Gazebo and ArduPilot SITL.
The seminar was delivered by CSIE research intern Ousama Saghie under the supervision of Dr. Nerses Nersisyan.
The presentation introduced the development of a fixed-wing aircraft model for Gazebo simulation, including aerodynamic modeling, aircraft control surfaces, SDF-based environment design, and integration with ArduPilot Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) for realistic flight testing and control.
The seminar highlighted key aspects of UAV simulation, including aircraft dynamics, aerodynamic force modeling, controller configuration, and communication between Gazebo and ArduPilot for autonomous flight experiments.
